Athene member Kelly Moore, manager of cfsbank in Charleroi, Pa, presents a check to Athene President Adele Hopkins for $750 in support of the 75th annual Senior Girls Tea.

The Athene Club of Charleroi, which is celebrating its 120th program year, welcomed seven new members to the organization at a recent meeting and announced plans for its jubilee tea which will be sponsored, in part, by cfsbank.

Athene Club was founded in 1902 for women interested in studying arts and literature, history and science, current events, and parliamentary rule. In the modern era, it remains a club dedicated to promoting life-long learning, community service, and citizenship. Its signature annual social event is the Senior Girls Tea honoring female graduates of Charleroi Area High School. At the meeting, Kelly Moore surprised the club members with the $750 check in honor of the 75th tea. “Together, our organizations have simultaneously served the Charleroi community for over 208 years, providing a platform for women to be heard and strive to be financially sound” Moore said. “It is a privilege to say that cfsbank is committed to ensuring this tradition continues for many generations to come.” The Senior Girls Tea was started in 1948 by the former Monday Musical Club, an affiliate of Athene, and it has been held annually since then.
